Soccer Game Debris

What's Up?

A local park, near my brother's home, hosts soccer games every Saturday.  After the last game, we were on the swing sets, and then went to kick the ball on the grass.  A big shock was how much litter was on the fields.  The litter, along with the garbage can content, was mostly beverage containers.

You can help.  Have fun while cleaning up the local park.

Idea

Clean up the park with your friends.  You will not only have fun, but help the environment and your local park.

Soccer Game Debris Competition

  1. Get some friends together
  2. Pick teams or compete individually
  3. Get gloves and bags
  4. Get, ready, set, go!
  5. Go pick up as many containers as you can.  Assign point values for special beverage containers.  For example, give an extra 5 points for a grape sports drink bottle.
  6. Whatever team or individual has the most containers wins.
  7. Whoop it up, and celebrate the victory.

How Does It Help?

If you do NOT put recyclables into recycling containers or take them to a recycling center, the containers will go straight into a landfill.  It takes hundreds of years for plastic to decompose in a landfill.  If you recycle containers, it can reduce natural resources used, including oil, energy, and can also be used for other new products.
